review 1: I find it really hard to get into a book when I dislike the main character, or at least if he isn't interesting. I was reading this on my kindle, so I had a nice counter in the bottom that told me I was 48% of the way through before anything really felt like it happened. The end did get more interesting, enough so to make me take a stab at the second book, although so far I'm not necessarily feeling like that was the right decision.
review 2: I was a little skeptical at first about this book, also there is quite a bit of swearing and I felt like it wasn't necessary. Don't get me wrong, I am comfortable with cussing I just felt that it didn't really need to be there. This story for me started out a little iffy but it soon got very involved and I could not put ... moreit down. I like to give a comparison in my reviews to help people decide if they want to read the book but I am having a hard time thinking of a similar story, all I can say is that it was exciting and interesting. I really liked Cael and his friends in the end and I am looking forward to reading the next book. less
