Went to hear the fabulous Martina Cole being interviewed by Clare Donoghue on Tuesday evening, as part of Yeovil’s Literary Festival which starts in earnest next week.
She was funny, down to earth, an inspiration.
She reminded me that you don’t need to have an M.A. in Creative Writing to be the highest selling crime author. You don’t even need to have gone to a top notch / crap university to be a successful writer. You just have to write.
She recommended a ‘a nice notebook’ (happily I have plenty of these, and bought a lovely new one to celebrate), some pencils (ditto) and to get off your arse and get on with it. Stop making excuses. Stop procrastinating.
