review 1: Really enjoyed this one, really easy to read and a compelling storyline. There's some real pathos in this and quite a few 'quirky' characters, no doubt to try to balance it a little. Thankfully, the quirkiness is applied with a much lighter touch than it is in 'Becoming Scarlett' where the persistent quirkiness rather overshadowed the story and became quite wearing. What was also nice was that the romantic lead for once was short and poor (nice chap, obviously) - when does that ever happen in chick lit? The scenes in Paris were just fabulous. *sigh* Well worth a read.
review 2: This was a strange one - after 50 pages I was ready to give up, there's only so many quirky friends you can cope with. But I'm so glad I carried on - from the point Dara joins up with
... morePrivate Investigator Stanley Flinter to look for her father this story takes off (and Stanley has a lovely back story of his own too). It's touching, engaging, with characters you come to care about - yes , even the irritating quirky friends! Despite what the cover suggests, she's not the new Marian Keyes, but her lovely light-hearted writing (more like an Irish Milly Johnson) makes the touching parts even more hard-hitting and the whole book a really enjoyable read. As an aside, loved some of the stuff in her acknowledgements (which give you a nice flavour of her style):"Thanks as always to my family. My husband who came up with one of the sub-plots in this book and never lets me forget it. Unfortunately my publishers wouldn't entertain your idea. They "claim" that 'Finding Mr Flood by Ciara Geraghty and her husband, Frank MacLochlainn, aged forty-one-and-a half' as you suggested, is just too long to print on the cover of the book... Thank you to my mother Breda who repositions my books in every bookshop she visits. And to my father, who waits for her as she does it." less

I liked the cover and the story was good but it took time to move between the scenes.

What a lovely book. I really enjoyed it despite a certain amount of predictability.
