review 1: At first I wasn't sure what I thought about this one, but the more pages I turned, the more drawn into the lyrical quality of the prose I was. I'm glad I picked it up off the stack of new books at the library solely based on the cover and title. It has lovely figurative language paired with engaging illustrations that evoke movement, all leading to an end page with a "Meet the Weeds" section that describes and defines each weed from the book's pages. An unexpected treat that I could see using to also talk about perspective, and seeing the best in things.
review 2: I love this book because it looks at weeds the way children do - as beautiful. I can remember my girls when they were young being perplexed when we hated the dandelions sprouting all over our spring ... morelawn. The beautiful language and illustrations combine to make a fascinating text about how creative weeds are. Excellent information in the back about adaptation and various weeds. I really enjoyed this book. less
