review 1: 3.5 stars I think this is such a children's book. It's too easy a read for me that I'm actually just scanning the words. They are literally just flirting every time. This has no depth at all, very simple. It is a fun fast read though and I don't hate it. I'm actually fond of it, but I won't go far into saying that I liked it. There is that point when all the flirting stopped being nauseating and became trilling, swoon-wrothy even. The sincerity vibrated through me when flirtations actually started to be real and there was something starting. I was able to feel it. I understand the course of what was happening. They were acceptable, not just entirely believable.
review 2: 3.5 * for this modern teenage tale based on Jane Austen's "Mansfield Park". Surprisingly, ... morethe story did not end the same as Austen's version yet I still liked it. Franny Pearson ends up spending her summer holidays working with her aunt Amelia, a costume designer/seamstress, at the Mansfield College Summer Theatre Program. There she meets up with Julia Braverman, a girl she knew from middle school. Much to Franny's delight, Julia's brother Alex has also signed up for the theatre program. Franny has had a secret "crush" on Alex since middle school. They all become good friends along with Julia's room-mate Vanessa, Alex's friend Lawrence, Isabella, Harry and the difficult, attention seeking Marie. Harry and Isabella are two wealthy, attractive, popular teens from LA who are the best of friends and look out for each other.Isabella becomes attracted to Alex, but she is insecure about her relationship with him and his friendship with Franny. Harry seems to really like Franny but he also appears to flirt with many girls who vie for his attention. Franny finds herself attracted to Harry, but she can't take his attention seriously and thinks he's a little shallow. In the meantime, Marie constantly throws herself at Harry and belittles Franny. Franny constantly pines for Alex's attention despite the fact that he's with Isabella. Harry at first comes across as being a self-absorbed, comical, flirtatious jerk, but Franny soon realizes he's quite a decent guy. I enjoyed this book and unravelling the truth behind the relationships between Alex/Isabella/Franny, and Franny/Isabella/Harry/ Marie. Overall the book was an enjoyable read. less
