review 1: This book is a little odd. I liked how it was set in time before Wuthering Heights and shows the authors impression of what set the stage for Heathcliff's character in that. The book definitely wasn't my favorite by Dunkle, and it did not have a grand finale. It just ended. The curse of the house was thrilling though, and I loved the picture of the main character huddled away safely when she was done being a maid at the morbid house.
review 2: Im only rating this book two stars, because as it states, "it was OK." It didn`t blow me out of the water by any means, and I had expected it to be a quick, haunting read. It was quick, yes, but the haunting perception of the book is understated. It was a decent story, giving a background about Heathcliff from "Wuthering
... moreHeights" (which I Have not read) childhood. In my opinion, the story almost went TOO fast for me...I think it should have been a bit longer because even thought the author was able to fit everything she wanted into the book, it just started, and ended too fast for me. It was not the best book I`ve read, but it wasn`t so horrible. less

An excellent tale, dark, well-told, and expertly written. A must for any gothic horror fan.

Heathcliff's beginnings--but too ridiculous to be supported.

This was very well written. Creepy, but with a happy ending.
