review 1: I didn't actually finish the book, because I didn't feel the need to read all the testimonials. As a book, it could be a pamphlet 1/4 the size it is and be fine. As a concept, I love it. This is something everyone needs to be aware of. The concept of grounding or earthing explains so much about energy work in massage, acupressure and the idea of the flow of chi in the body. It makes sense. We are meant to be in contact with the earth.
review 2: This book ends up reading like an infomercial sounds. There is very little depth to the Earthing process described in this book, in terms of what's really happening. I'd have liked more in the way of learning about "electromedicine" and some more scientific, technical writing on the subject. I don't discount the anecdota
... morel evidence, and I know the science on earthing is very young. But even with that said, much feels glossed over here, going for the lowest common denominator, and that really weakens this book, even for a "believer" in Earthing like myself. He writes that in many cases of people he's helped, the people don't really understand what's happening, just that they feel better. Fine and good, but I bought this book because I DO want to know what's happening. The testimonials are nice, and inspiring. But for anyone interested in the actual science of this, you only get some info in the appendices, and a bibliography. I was disappointed. 2 and a half stars for this one, but I gave it 3 because the concept, I feel, is sound and probably would be greatly beneficial to our insulated society. Though I've been a barefooter for a long time, there have been times in my life when it hit me just how long it's been since I've touched the soil or a living thing like a tree with my skin. City life is insulating in so many ways, in terms of Earthing not the least, and this book serves as a reminder that reconnecting with Nature is not merely a cute term; it has a literal, physical side to it that should not be neglected. less
