Mystery Man
review 1: Worth reading for the last line alone. The owner of Belfast's No Alibis crime fiction bookshop is at it again, along with his sidekick/mother-to-be of his child Alison, and even longer suffering sidekick Jeff. This time the wife of a cult writer seems to have died during a radical surgical makeover at a plush clinic and the grieving widower suspects a cover up. Others believe she has simply ditched the loser for a new life. Our 'hero' is as exasperatingly self-absorbed as ever and his hypochrondria rampant, but the blossoming of the hard man Rolo is truly moving.

Don't get me wrong all those comments normally make me smile. It just felt like there were more of them in this Bateman effort, it didn't add to the story and makes the character more annoying, which leads this reader to stop reading. less
