review 1: This wasn't for me but I'll add the heavy caveat that it didn't sound my sort of thing to start with I just got a free copy. I generally like my Victorian era firmly in fact not fiction and my vampires urban and gritty. Therefore I have to say while I didn't like it, fans of the genre quite possibly would. I think buy in for me was tough as I hadn't read any of the books so the story felt a bit light - given that other reviews say it's really more of a supplementary backstory for the other books, I'd suggest reading the others first and read this as a nice little addition to your collection.
review 2: This short story seemed to be Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets the Victorians. Despite how much I enjoyed it, there wasn't enough information to form any kind of
... more opinion about the characters. I liked how tough Victoria was, defeating four vamps and all!, but her love triangle was a bit confusing. Also her relationship with Max, should I count him as a potential suitor? I definitely will have to read the books because despite the length, I am intrigued! less
