review 1: The decadence of the Regency period shines through in this book. The descriptions of the places and people are very good, they take you there. The clothing sounds sumptuous. Things that our heroine thought were just fantasy or old wives tales to scare young children, are more true than she ever believed. One other thing exists that she was sure was not meant for her, love. Our hero is a rake of the first order, never caring about anyone or anything except what he could gain from them. Men with money he didn't need, Draculia with secrets he could use, women for all the things a rakish man would like from a woman, not to leave out the blood that keeps him alive. But he has a “Devil of a time” when he meets Angelica Woodmoore. He is drawn to her from the start even thoug... moreh he won't admit it to himself. Angelica’s sister Maia, betrothed and comfortable in her loves consistency, has confidence. Her brother has gone missing and the man he has instilled their safety to is a dark, non communicative man. There is a mystery here, but can they unravel it before The darkest Draculia kidnap Angelica and her sister Maia? This is regency romance at it's best with the wonderful addition of a touch of paranormal. If you liked this book, Please check out the rest of the series in The Draculia Vampire Trilogy. And also The Gardella Vampire Chronicles. You will not be sorry you did!
review 2: I love stories set in regency times, and I love vampire stories, and Colleen melds the two genres together perfectly. It's hard to write about this book without giving spoilers, but suffice to say that there are two clans of Vampires, the good and the evil. Voss is one of the 'good' vampires, and he falls for a human female who is under the protection of his brother. The story revolves around keeping her and her sisters safe, and also about Voss and his constant battle with the control that satan has over him because of a large marking on his shoulder and back which gives him extreme pain when he tries to battle his evil side. His struggle is very moving, and what happens to him towards the end of the story is truly unique! I look forward to reading the next book in the series where we hear about Voss's brother Dimitri's story. less
