review 1: ... THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS!! ...My review contains spoilers, I always write what I feel I would want to know when I read a book...As you read in the description, the story is about two teenagers who fell deeply in love. Tristan and Evelyn. They were together for about three years and then Evelyn stopped contacting him and didn't ever visit. Her house was sold, the beach house packed up and he never had an explanation or anything. He was heartbroken and left bitter. He couldn't believe she would do that to them. Fast forward a few years and she's twenty and they run into each other at Tristan's bar after his band plays. His brother Drake (who was like a brother to Evelyn as well) bumps into her and realizes she has no idea who he is, so he walks her over to Tristan a... morend tells him that she doesn't remember them. So she begins to tell them that she found out she had a brain tumor when she was sixteen and started losing her memories. Her parents were advised by doctors to let the people in her life know of this and let her try and make new memories. So her mom was supposed to inform his family of her cancer and she didn't and moved her away. Her father suggest she go to the college she wanted before her memory loss. What she forgets is that it was the same college she planned to go with Tristan. Tristan and Drake have what they call an Evelyn Trunk with videos and photo albums of three summers and all holidays/long weekends together. He kept the trunk because he still loved her. And he was completely broken when she just disappeared. He felt like a jackass for hating her, when she was fighting for her life and he didn't know. He asks her if she wants to take a trip down memory lane with him, and he will show her all of their memories. She used to be obsessed with taking videos so they have tons... I liked this book okay. I felt like it was more depressing and traumatic than inspiring and realistic. It would have been a five star rating from me if the author didn't have the cancer come back. I felt like it would have been a way better book had it really been a trip down memory lane. If she really watched the home videos, and he took her places and she fell in love with him all over again. But that wasn't the case. She fell in love with him and he helped her learn about their lost love, but shortly after she got Leukemia and went into remission, then found out she was pregnant with a miracle baby and so on. It was just too much for me. I would however LOVE if the author did a novel on their past, so we could actually learn about her and the more of the memories. I loved how in the memories she was a sarcastic, free-spirited, spitfire that wasn't afraid of anything. I would absolutely buy that book of their back story. The author fed us some of their memories, and that was wonderful to read. One of my favorite memories:********"Hi, I'm Evelyn." She sticks her beautiful tanned hand out to shake mine. I am dumbfounded, at loss for words. I mean, I just hit this girl in the head with a volleyball and she is being polite."Um, sorry about the volleyball. I'm Tristan." I shake her hand in return and the air around us crackles and pops. I pull my hand back quickly. What the hell was that?"Well, Tristan, next time try not hitting a girl in the head with the volleyball when you're ogling her." My mouth drops open. I am busted."I...I...I'm sorry." I mean, what the f*** else is there to say?"It's all right." She laughs and it is such a beautiful laugh.********
review 2: short review that will contain spoilerspositives:1) storyline very interesting2) the main characters both have amazing friends3) well at least they were able to have a healthy baby after all that horrible things she had to go through.Now here's the parts I did not enjoy about this story. It felt very rushed. THere was too much going on:1) Evelyn forgets her memory due to cancer, so Tristan tries gives her a "trip down memory lane" through all the video diaries, and photos they kept in their "evelyn trunk".2) Evelyn, unfortunately, get leukemia and has to endure more rounds of chemo3) she gets pregnant, damn that's bad timing4) and then to add more problems, tristan's "ex-girlfriend?" shows up, kisses tristan. That was seen by evelyn. But that drama only lasted like a few paragraphs. this was totally unnecessary. it was a tad bit unrealistic. But It was kind of enjoyable, I liked how they reunited at least. less
