review 1: Short but sweet! And I don't mean 'sweet' as in 'aaaaww', but more as in 'dude.... sweet'.I dunno why I wrote that.Anyway, this book is not about angels. Some people think it is. But it's not. It's about HEAVEN. But angels aren't the rulers of heaven in this story.Yes, we've already started to peel off the skin of the 'why is this book really interesting' banana. Sidenote: The angels are not being treated fairly. I demand a rebellion T_TThere's a huge focus on backstory and world set-up in this book, I feel. In a way that's good, because it really is a very unique world. But set-up, as we all know, kind of gets in the way of the main storyline, and it can sometimes come off as stilted when one of the characters has to explain everything in one go. (Like in pilot episodes; ... more"Dude, I know you've been going through a hard time, what with your wife dying three months ago and your daughter running away with some goth kid from Canada, but can you please pass me the salt??")It didn't ruin the mood of the story completely, it just kind of made me want to experience the world instead of being told about it. I guess I'll get to experience more in the sequels?? :D(btw, the ending made me go: OMGWTFJUSTHAPPENED, GIMME SEQUEL NAAAAAOW!)The characters were well written and non Mary-Sue'y. Personally, I don't know how I feel about some of them though. Tane got on my nerves a little bit, and what happened to that best friend from the start of the book? He just gave up on his pal? Didn't even call him? Nothing? Jeesh.Loved Charlie, though! Probably the best part about him is that he's a guy! Let's get some more guy MC's into the YA universe, eh?Gaius was awesome. That is all.So, in conclusion, I loved it. Wished it was longer, though. Hoping to get more out of the sequels. (pressure, pressure) Really looking forward to seeing how this story will continue, so I'd say this was a success.3,8 stars. I'm very precise >:D
