review 1: This is the story of two creatures who are very different but end up becoming best friends. Peep moves into Wooby’s quiet neighborhood and disrupts everyone’s rhythm. He just wants a friend, but he doesn’t know how to go about it the right way. Wooby is understanding, but has a hard time figuring Peep out. They finally find that they have Go Fish in common, and become fast friends. This book has wonderful illustrations and fun text. Great for late ECE/early elementary.
review 2: Why kids will love it - Reading about Peep's antics will bring many laughs. And seeing the friendship bloom between Wooby and Peep will show kids how much fun it can be to be friends with others, even those who might be a little different than you.What I learned as a writer ... more- Having fun, original characters is so important in picture books. And giving them names that are unique, but match with the other characters is also important. I loved the dialogue between the characters, which shows that for some pb's plenty of dialogue does work. less
