review 1: I have fallen in love with this series. I love the depth to each story, and this one is no different. Each character has similar but different psychic abilities, which makes it interesting. The difference with this book is that the lead characters, Alexis and Kevin, both have psychic abilities although Alexis is new to hers and more powerful than she realizes. Stefan is a central character in all of the books and a bit of a mystery wrapped in an enigma. We do however get to see more of what he is capable of in this story, and also his weaknesses. The characters all go to Stefan for training as he is the most powerful, however it would seem that even he has his limits. In each book his limits seemed to be pushed further and further, so I'm looking forward in anticipation fo... morer his book as I have a feeling he's going to meet an adversary that's really going to put him through his paces, and hopefully he will need the help of a few of the other characters along the way. In this book Kevin is a no nonsense cop who deals with things head on, including his own abilities. He's in a place where he knows who he is and what he is capable of, and he goes with his gut. Alexis is the complete opposite, she's closed off and because of the hurt she's suffered she's isolated herself for protection. She's a loner and struggles to let Kevin in, in fact there were times I could have given her a good shake when she pushed him away, but her compassion made her endearing to me. I found Kevin could be quite gruff at times but you could forgive him because you realize it's because of the things he's witnessed as a cop, and how they have effected him. However reluctant Alexis is she is drawn to Kevin and you could feel the connection and the pull they had. The scene when they're having coffee and the attraction hits them.......whoa I thought I could actually see the sexual energy flowing between them. The author is very good at not making it about the sex scenes, it's about the build up, the tension, the small looks, the little touches, it's fabulous. I loved the storyline, about a quarter of the way through I thought `oh I know who it is already', but then the author adds a twist that was unexpected and surprising, and just brought the whole thing together with an `OH' moment. Love love love it, can't wait for the next one
review 2: Alexis Gordon is a gardener for the town she lives in, her life full of loss. She thought her green thumb working with plants was normal, until the day she finds the bone of a finger in one of the park's garden bed. Suddenly Alexis is thrown into a psychic race to find the killer of this child and learn the truth. Det. Kevin Sutherland, is stunned to learn Alexis is unaware of her psychic abilities, his own abilities are needed for his job. But, it's something he doesn't talk about easily. When Alexis and Kevin meet over the find of the finger, sparks fly. But, Alexis isn't ready or so she thinks. Her new psychic abilities scare her, but she needs those skills to uncover the truth. The mayor's family is under attack, none of them realize they are being possessed by a child killer, nor are they willing to talk openly about the family problems, until it comes to a head and the demon destroys them all. Alexis, Kevin and Stefan join forces to physically and psychically outwit the killer and uncover the truth. less
