Partials Sequence
review 1: I got off to a bad start with this one. It was hard to get into because the pace was SO SLOW. Seriously though, the first ten chapters was military strategizing, medical jargon, and Kira wallowing. It didn't get moving until about chapter 20. Maybe it was because it was such a huge gap between when I read the last one and when I finally read this one, but I wasn't really invested with any of the characters. I remember being on the edge of my seat with the first two books (I gave Partials a rare 5 stars), and I loved the novella Isolation. There was little to no physical descriptions of people (there was a "monster" in the book that was described the exact same way in three different chapters, but none of the humans or Partials got the same treatment), and most of the chara... morecters felt like cardboard cutouts because there was no character development this time. It was like the author expected the reader to just remember everyone from the last book. At one point, Kira commented that Marcus had changed so much [since the beginning of the series], but the only evidence given is that he has a tan and is wearing a uniform instead of scrubs. Marcus was the only character that felt like he leapt off the page in this book, and that's simply because he had witty dialogue. Ariel stood out a bit because she was angry at Nandita the whole story, but that really didn't change, so again, no character development. I will say that there was a decent surprise closer to the end of the book, after several predictable events and a character reveal that I saw coming. So, at least it wasn't dull. The pace definitely picked up at the end, and it was a fitting resolution to the series. I didn't feel like there were any loose ends or unanswered questions. I'm glad I finished the series, but book 2 and 3 just weren't as strong as the first one, or Heron's novella.
review 2: I thought book one of the Partials Sequence was excellent - and book 2 wasn't too bad either. Book 3 does tie things up fairly well, but it seems to drag on and on. There are so many points of view, and just a lot of wandering. One of the Trust fixes the weather (why would you want to bring back winter - ugh), so the wandering is in the cold and the snow, and I just felt cold reading it!I'm happy with the conclusion, no drawn out agony over the stupid love triangle, but I wish the book had picked up the pace. less

I really enjoyed this book. I found the end to be very satisfying, which is rare in most trilogies.

I liked the first and second book more. I got a little bored in this one.
Bitter
Better than Fragments, but not as good as Partials.
