review 1: I really enjoyed the shorter ebook version that I was able to download for free. Free is something you take a chance on--I've read some questionable "free" stuff over the years, but I'm pleased with The Lexical Funk... So much so that I bought a copy of the full book. I accidentally read the entire ebook in one sitting. Granted, it's only 42 pages long, but I usually prefer to read one story at a time, put the book down, think, then read on... I just couldn't with this. I wanted to read more, think later. I'm glad I did. That isn't to say there isn't anything here to think about; rather, it's quite the opposite. The author left me with plenty to think about, but the attraction to his writing style was much stronger than my desire to ruminate on a single story. I also enjoy... moreed the multi-genre approach, which allowed the author to showcase his ability to write beyond a single genre... and that takes talent. I look forward to reading more.
review 2: When I first opened it I was taken aback as I was simply expecting a book of short stories. Once I got into the pieces of prose combined with a few short stories I quite enjoyed myself. My favorite pieces were "Starlight Terror and the Cappuccino Machine" and "Buddy's Last Drink" although they all had their moments of genius. To sum it up I would call the book a surreal prose experience intermingled in a web of language porn. less
