review 1: Forever Yours is a bizarre little book. I had no idea where it was going. It was simply an emotional roller-coaster. I bought this book knowing nothing about the author because a) it had a very pretty cover and b) contrary to its cute packaging, it was described on the cover as having 'A dash of Stephen King, a twist of Hitchcock... Like a cocktail laced with arsenic' - fascinating for a novel set in a lamp shop...I have marked this as having spoilers as any discussion of the book necessitates giving a little away. What started out as a romance, turns rapidly into a suspense, mutates into a tragedy and then culminates in a rather satisfying crime-genre conclusion. It can't really decide what sort of book it wants to be and that's what made it so delightfully unpredictable.... more Written in an unusually clear, punchy fashion I devoured it in almost one sitting (unusual for a sluggish reader like me). I just couldn't take the tension and the plot kept changing, driving me on. I haven't felt this much suspense since reading (a personal favourite of mine) Strangers on a Train by Patricia Highsmith. Another comparison I would make is with the book Enduring Love. The theme of 'stalking', the 'unreliable narrator' device - the writing style is completely different though.I would be very interested to read other books by Daniel Glattauer - clever, twisty and in parts downright terrifying.
review 2: Judith is not looking for love but an incident where a man steps on her heel starts something. He first turns up at her shop and later bumps into him on a nigh out later the next day he invites her for coffee and they meet up. Judith is happy at first but as time goes by she needs to finish it but Hannes is not happy. Things happen and friends worry about her sanity is Hannes behind this read and find out . Only complaint the way it said about characters talking got annoying at times less
