review 1: Melancholic and funny, in structure as well as story and characters. (Somehow, Kehlmann pulls off that hat trick.) About fate and accident, slippage between people and between their stories, in this story, from alternating POVs, of twin brothers and a third half-brother and the delinquent father they share. The novel holds everything in light alienation: an enviable, somewhat disassociated stance that often choked a laugh out of me and occasionally left me dazed with sadness.
