review 1: I borrowed the kindle version of this juvenile-classified book from the library based on the title, hoping to read it on a trip to our 7 year old granddaughter. She is an avid cat lover, loves to pretend she is a wild cat so it sounded promising. Unfortunately it was definitely not one she would be able to understand or appreciate. As part of a trilogy it did seem to start abruptly and progressed to confusing, but not engaging. I finished reading to see if it might be one for the future but I can't recommend this for anyone, a little too absurdist (is that a word?). Then again, it might be interesting for someone who likes fantasy, it just doesn't have a good storyline.
review 2: LOVE Daniel Pinkwater. I wish I'd encountered his books as a teen, but I've lo
... moreved them for years as an adult. In this book he explores interdimensional time, New York history, folklore, relationships, and fried food. Just the book for minds that are interested in everything. It might be difficult for a young reader just learning about things to sift out the facts from imagination; some of Pinkwater's fiction is very subtle, and a lot of reality sounds too extreme to be true. Reading Pinkwater is like dancing through a minefield of happy surprises. less

Pinkwater never fails to deliver. Another bizarrely entertaining book.

Insane. Excellent cameo by the Wild Things and Max. Whahahahaha!

Like a Vonnegut story for children.
