review 1: I grabbed this book because a board I follow highly recommended it as a sexy cowboy read and it was on KU. I'll admit I'm a bit of a cowboy snob, but being from Texas and riding a horse doesn't magically turn you into a cowboy. I could look beyond that but the writing style was much too basic for my taste, and I found myself speed reading. The book is marked edited but still lacks finesse in that area, and I never connected with the characters. I think a big part of that was the writing style, the excessively detailed internal dialogue, and the awkward external dialogue. I finished it so it's not a one star read, but I think it's safe to say I won't be continuing with the series.
