review 1: I keep picking up Lisa Jackson books at airports and on trips and have been pleased overall with the writing and story lines. I don't LOVE these books, but they certainly keep me interested while traveling and working away from home. Sometimes they are a bit complicated, with too many characters, and that was definitely the case with this one. I had to keep looking back to figure out who was who. But overall a good solid three-stars.
review 2: Turns out this is 3rd in a series featuring reporter Nikki Gillette and police detective, Pierce Reed. I had not read the other 2 and this one does stand alone. Its kind of formula but features an intricate story of family interactions and surprise connections between various characters who grew up in Savannah, GA. ... more It was an ok story and held my interest, but I won't miss these characters if they don't appear again. less
