review 1: The first few chapters were a bit boring. The author had to create the atmosphere of the story or else, the whole plot would be a joke. It got interesting when Evangeline and Verlaine met at the archives. Things started to mess up after that. The author was very particular with her words. Her presentations of her visions were in an objective way. By objective, she as if wanted the readers to have the same vision as hers, making her very particular with her words. Which, I think, had both advantages and disadvantages with regards to reading it. As what the other few reviewers said, the book is truly a combination of arts and history, myths, architectural and biblical stuffs. Imagine, all of these were put together in one book. If the author was not careful, it'd be jumbled ... moreand confusing but, fortunately, it was not. ^_^ and I had to commend her on that. I am excited to read the Angelopolis which is a sequel of this book. ^_^
review 2: Good enough. Some parts moved to slow, some parts too fast. There was a lot of repetition about the Nephelim, and the excavation and trips to obtain the lyre. The middle section, which takes place in Europe in WWII, was interesting, but coming in the middle of the book, felt like it stopped all action. That said, I never was ahead of the game, I didn't know what would happen next, and it was a world I haven't ever been in before, so it kept me interested. I will have to read the next book soon if I hope to retain the (many) finer details of this story. less

This is a solid 3.5 stars, but since that's not an option, I'll round up.

Just fantastic. Dark Angels. Biblical Lore. Mythology. Fell in love.
