review 1: This book probably deserved more than 3 stars, the historical facts were great to learn about and I could tell the author had researched her topics. The problem came for me the lack of emotional connection from the main characters for each other, or for any one at all. I know there are sociopaths in this world, and perhaps this is what the author wanted to portray, if so good job, and I up my star rating to 4. *A spy for the Confederates, and a spy for the Union get married, fully intending on turning each other in to the authorities, is this similar to Mr. and Mrs. Smith? I did get a bit tired of the same sentences being written throughout the book too. Hmm maybe a 2 star rating? One way or other, not a bad read, just not a satisfying one.

... morek takes place during the American Civil War. Jacob Rappaport is working in his father’s Mercantile Import- Export firm. The first night of Passover at the sedar, he is asked to marry the girl of his father’s friend, and the marriage will combined the two business. He does not want to marry this girl and joins the Union troops. While in the union forces a major, a colonel and a general found out that an uncle of his is planning a plan to have President Lincoln killed. He becomes a spy for the Union Army and is asked to kill the uncle. This story covers his life as a Jewish spy for the north and we have a beautiful story of what it was like to live in the south during the civil war. We have a great history of what it was like to be Jew at this time. He meets Judah P. Benjamin and many famous people. This book is a work if fiction but it does have many true facts. The author notes at the end of the book gives us the sources and many interesting facts about the Jews that lived in the south during the civil war.It is a geat read less
