review 1: I finished this book 10 minutes ago, and it is going to stay with me for a long time. I'd never heard of Darien Gee. Saw this book at my local library. The cover, title and blurb made me borrow it. I was concerned that it may not live up to the gorgeous cover. But it surpassed my expectations in spades. I knew from the first few pages that I was going to love it. The writing was divine. The characters are written so beautifully and with so much love and care. I felt like I knew them. And I didn't want my journey with them to end. I want to live in Avalon! I am going to make the starter and try out some of the recipes. I've joined the fbkitchen community on Facebook. And I've already got "The Avalon Ladies Scrapbooking Society" sitting on my bookshelf. Can't wait for more f... morerom Ms Gee.
review 2: This was a sweet story about friendship and healing. The setting and characters were charming and relatable. My critique would be it jumped between characters quite a bit and took me awhile to keep them straight. I felt a few less side stories would have made it easier to pull the reader in right up front. I still really enjoyed the book and found myself anxious to see how everything worked out for Hannah, Julia & Madeline. It will make a great book club discussion book for next month. less

Sweet story. Set in the small town of Avalon - reminded me a little of the Mitford series.
