review 1: I'm a bit on the fence with this one. I enjoyed the story, but felt that it didn't really go anywhere. I was drawn into the world of Stanley Potts and his unfortunate circumstances, but as the story moved on, I cared less and less about him. I didn't feel for Stan as much as I think I should have. Also I wasn't a fan of the DAFT team that was out to get Stan and his family. They didn't seem as though they were anything to be taken seriously, yet they got away with a lot. It felt a bit like it was added on at the end.The writing was very enjoyable with lots of good bits of humour that I think children would really enjoy, but as an adult I was left wanting more. I think seven year old me would have enjoyed it a lot more than thirty-six year old me.I will definitely be readin... moreg more of David Almond's books. I enjoy his style and his unique way of looking at things.
review 2: 'The Boy Who Swam with Piranhas' is a very funny, colourful and lively read. I particularly enjoyed Jeffers' illustrations, and the DAFT investigator!Though this is targeted towards children, I would've liked to see a deeper meaning, and I thought that the story was a little short. I would also like to see Stan swimming with piranhas more, as despite the title, he only swam with piranhas once! A epilogue with Stan in the future as some sort of idol, like Pancho Pirelli would have made this enjoyable story even better. less

Too quirky; couldn't engage with the sparse writing style; didn't care about the characters.
