review 1: An interesting approach to narrative: taking dreams and bringing them out in comics form. The very concept raises a number of questions, perhaps the most prominent of which concerns the matter of translation. How much of the dream is glossed over, and how much is elaborated upon, in putting the dreams into comics form? It's one thing to jot down in words what your dreams where like -- and try to make sense of the often non-sensicalness and free-flowing nature of dreams -- and another to put into pictures, where the very form itself demands time-intensive inscription. Does the act of illustrating the dreams take you away from the phenomenological experience of the dream content, to where the finished product is something wholly other? One of the best things about this book ... moreis seeing how many of the images and motifs that find their way into David B.'s comics apparently have roots in his dreams. This would surely explain the strong surrealistic tone of this narratives.
review 2: It's always a delight when folks illustrate their dreams and even cooler when done in graphic novel form. That being said, this was a bit too rough for me. It seems like more of a personal demon-exorcism, than a public offering of creativity. But I'm sure there's a group of people that can really resonate with this level of darkness. And serious props for David B.'s willingness to go that deep and dark. That takes a kind of courage most people don't have. less

Surreal nonsense of a high order. What kind of person is David B to have these dreams? Zoinks.

As much as I am fascinated by dreams, I was surprised how dull this book ended up being.

Pretty cool stuff, I like the idea of doing a illustrated dream journal.
