review 1: If you are the type of person who loves detail and are usually one who pays attention to detail, then you will love this book or you aren't then, good luck. The book is long. And I don't mean long as in page-wise (although yes, it bears quite a number of pages), I mean there are a lot of unnecessary descriptions. Every character (not just the main(s)) is given a heavy description. As a reader, all I really care about are the main characters! In addition, I want to read a book and enjoy it throughout and not JUST for the ending. Anyway, despite the "length", you will still WANT to know what happens at the end of the book. Which, ultimately is what will keep you reading until the end. Good read but would not read again.
review 2: I enjoyed reading The Exceptions.
... more It's a well paced thriller featuring a mobster with a heart of gold and a single minded determination to keep the girl he unwittingly caused harm to safe for the rest of her life. This novel is a companion piece to The Girl She Used to Be, which is the same story told from the girl's point of view. Having not read the original, I was very happy that this novel completely stood on its own. It reminded me of a Harlan Coben book with the ease of conversation and plot. less

Listened to this on Audible, and I didn't really like the reader, but I liked the story.

This is a retelling of "The Girl She Used to Be." Read one, but not both.
