review 1: Absolutely loved the way Farley blends the history and contemporary culture of Calcata, Italy with the irreverent mystery of the title. Taking on the role of a comically ersatz Robert Langdon, he unravels the tales of the Holy Prepuce with skepticism, glee and a healthy sense of wonder at the human race and its varying shades of zaniness. Never judgmental, always self-effacing, he comes off as a trustworthy narrator and a damn good storyteller. Highly recommend!
review 2: **spoiler alert**Although well-written and light enough to sustain interest through what is essentially Mr. Farley's year or so abroad, at the end of the day, he did not find the relic. ... morery. It seemed like gossipy vignettes mixed with a bit of silliness that only a journalist or a storyteller could turn into a book.Only recommended if the other choices are difficult reads our nothing else is available. less
