review 1: So I decided to give this a go, because like many others, I really enjoyed the Dragon Age games. I was a little worried about what the books were going to be like. In all honesty I wasn't expecting much. In fact I was expecting it to be quite hard to read. But since I found The Stolen Throne cheap, I thought I would give it a go sooner rather then later. And I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. The book is quite well written and it flows well. Its fairly easy to follow as well (and this coming from someone that often gets lost quickly within plots lol) with a lot of good action scenes. I even think that someone that has never played the games could read this and flow it well. Maybe there would be some things that would be confusing but for the most part everything is e... morexplained, if in short bursts. The one thing I didn't like was the romances. Which is weird for me to say because I like romance in my books. But the romances in this were... well... stupid. They weren't plotted well, seemed rushed and some of the situations... I mean I'm fairly certain if someone is very nearly being mortally wounded, they're not suppose to be able to have relationships I short time after...Yeah the romances annoyed me.But the actual main part of the story, with Maric raising up the rebel army and the battles they wage were all very interesting to me.Sure the book had its problems, but I enjoyed it enough to get the other books in the series which I hope to be able to read soon. All in all? Not that bad.
review 2: I really liked this book until the end, but it was not the ending itself that I did not like, merely how rushed it was. The reader is invested in the grand finale until it is merely skipped over in summary; a forgotten trivial tale but not to the poor readers who expected it to be finished properly. I ended up giving it three stars because the quality of writing was not what I expected from someone who helped create the Dragon Age storyline. It was good, but sorely lacking in areas that I felt it shouldn't. Still the book itself does fill in a good part of the dragon age storyline and it was entertaining to read. less

Not bad, but needed a bit more work. I love the videogame series though.

Far better than I expected, considering the game tie-in. 3-1/2 stars.
