review 1: I grabbed this book almost at random - needed something to read on a trip and the library was closing in 5 minutes. I ended up enjoying it quite a bit. Gordon writes clever and funny descriptions, and I liked many of the characters. The plot was not predictable (to me, anyway). On the down side, I felt there were too many characters - I would have preferred to get to know fewer characters more thoroughly. And the plot twists and tying up of loose ends by the finale of the story happened so quickly and unbelievably, I was actually a bit confused by it. Not outstanding, but a good vacation read. I might have enjoyed it even more if I had a more thorough background in postmodern fiction classics.
review 2: The actual plot of this story was interesting and full o
... moref great twists, but got bogged down in too much boring detail that only true movie and old literature enthusiasts could enjoy. Also, the lurid details were just too much...this book is definitely not for the under 18 crowd. Almost gave up due to that and the boring parts, but I wanted to see where they went with the actual story...and it was worth holding on to finish. less

I can't believe I even had to give it a star - disgusting with boring loser characters.

This was ok. A mostly cookie-cutter mystery with a fun sense of humor.
