review 1: So good.Competent prose, a world that is fascinating and consistent, and a plot that kept me engaged. That's good. But it's also full of characters with fascinating traits. I like to reserve five-star ratings for groundbreaking works, and I think the diversity of the cast here qualifies. It feels like some characters are not really necessary, but the ending demands at least one sequel, so there is the potential that the large cast could eventually all prove their value.I really didn't expect to like this so much. (I picked it up based mostly on the interesting title and I think it was on sale.) Check it out.
review 2: This is actually one of the best fantasy novels I have read in a long time. Schwartz steps away from the trite and overdone supposedly fantasy gen
... morere vampire and werewolf supernatural novels to create a world of magic where the characters are both believable and fantastical. Having read a good many supernatural thrillers I can tell you that Joy Wilson has become one of my favorite supernatural detectives. While there were some issues with formatting this is simply the nature of the Kindle translation itself and it does not detract from the plot or the characters. I would recommend this book to anyone aged 15 and up. Specifically I would say if you liked Harry Potter, or the Worst Witch series as a child and adolescent you will like this book. less
