review 1: This book follows about 6 characters in 6 different locations on the day RFK's train took his body to Washington DC. The organization was a rapid-fire (2-3 pages, average) of a snippet of each character's activities that day. I expected some sort of revelation/awakening/or something by the end of the book for each character. The final scenes for each left me flat. The whole story didn't have *flow*.
review 2: I just happened to pick this up at the library. What a wonderful suprise! The book is set on the day that RFK's coffin was transported from New York to Washington for his burial. The writer weaves the stories of ordinary people who are watching the train as it passes through their hometown, covering 6 states. Really diverse snapshot that captures the
... moretime, feel, and tone of that day. A quick read that led me to look up photos that were taken of people lining the train tracks that day. less

It was much too brief. The characters didn't have a chance to develop.
