This is the kind of book that Tawna Fenske does best – fun, flirty, sexy, full of innuendo and humour, but with plenty of heart and charm underneath. Ty and Ellie don’t so much have a meet-cute as a meet-cringe of hilarious proportions as there’s a wee bit of confusion about just what kind of business Ellie runs. It’s a fun start to this book and definitely sets the scene for the ride ahead.
I loved it. It’s light and easy and a great balance between flirty and filthy. Ty has a few issues when it comes to relationships, while Ellie has a lot on her plate, but I loved how the pair of them got along. It’s not just lusty attraction – even though there’s plenty of that – it’s the way Ty makes Ellie relax and helps her out, while Ellie and her cute son Henry definitely add new layers to Ty’s life. The three of them together are great and I really enjoyed seeing their story unfold.
Not that it’s an easy ride, because of course not. Ellie and Ty might be perfect for each other, but that doesn’t mean everything is simple. Ty really does have a few issues and good reasons for them, and I spent a lot of the book worriedly waiting for something to go wrong. But when I wasn’t worrying I was usually smiling, snickering and outright laughing, with the occasional sigh of happiness.
If you’re looking for a pick-me-up read that demands nothing more than your enjoyment, this author is usually a good bet and this is one of my favourites from her. I’ve enjoyed the whole series so far and loved this one. I can’t wait to see what Tawna Fenske offers up next.
