review 1: David Walliams has created a master piece in this book. It opens up children to the possibilities of being different and how being different isn’t a bad thing. The boy has to deal with his father who is struggling to come to terms with the departure of his wife and bringing up two boys on his own. I did like the moments where the author's voice commented on the text itself, which suggests an intelligence in the writing that wasn't brought out to its fullest in the narrative. There is a cynical part of me that thinks if anyone other than David Walliams had written it, it probably wouldn't be published. It's an enjoyable enough read, though. less

I liked this book, but it wasn't as good as the others. Some parts could be better than others.

Funny but I don't think it lives up to the hype, will read his others though.
