review 1: " Może po obejrzeniu tego programu ustąpicie starszej osobie miejsca w autobusie, może zagracie z nią w Scrabble, lub raz na jakiś czas podarujecie w prezencie paczkę miętówek Murraya. My starzy, uwielbiamy czasem possać sobie dobrą miętówkę. A przede wszystkim, młodzi rodacy, pamiętajcie o tym, że my, ludzie starsi, z pewnością nie jesteśmy nudni". To ważne przesłanie płynie z "Babci rabuś" nie tylko do dzieci - starsze osoby też kiedyś były młode, polubmy własne babcie zanim będzie za późno.Piękna książka o odkrywaniu miłości, wierze we własne marzenia i potędze wyobraźni, całość w przyjemnej otoczce zabawno-kryminalnej.
review 2: I read this book intrigued by the figure of its author, who I had read that was a bestse
... moreller inside its genre in the UK. I was also attracted by the tone and type of story because I myself like writing stories for young adults with a little bit of humor and adventure. Even though I don’t fit into the age range of readers who this book is aimed to, I think there are many brilliant young adult books that manage to attract an adult audience as well. In this case, however, I didn’t enjoy the reading too much. I like the way Walliams writes, and I thought the general idea of the book was a funny starting point, despite its lack of originality. In fact, for a while I found the story funny and kept on reading with interest. But little by little my initial positive attitude started being pushed aside by disappointment. As I read I realised that the book was not much more than a collection of clichés, jokes without wit and a sometimes rushed narrative. The general impression I got reading this book is that David Walliams is a talented writer, but he published this book too soon. That he didn’t make a final revision to improve the jokes, give coherence and rhythm to the story, or soften some clichés. The characters never become much more than caricatures and their behaviors are barely credible. The end is lazy and has vacuous and badly balanced emotive moments, which doesn’t favour a story Walliams seemed to start with energy but ended up out of obligation. Perhaps young people adore the work of this writer, but this was my perception as an adult reader. Still, I would read other of his works to see if this book was just an exception. less
