review 1: Christian fiction jumps into the vampire craze. She will make a name for herself with this series. An interpretation of vampires from a biblical view. Cursed for thier sins, destined to seek redemption through the long years or, of course, make their fate worse and add new evil to mankind. The spiritual warfare is gripping and reminds us that Satan is there and can affect us. It also is a love story, and I am interested as to how the vampire/human relationship will work out in this book. Suspense, some bad vampire killing, and intriguing mysteries from the past add depth to the story. She is writing the third in the trilogy now, so it is a series you can read through. It is an excellent book and story that will make you bring up questions of grace, spiritual warefare, and... more redemption.
review 2: I left my comfort zone to read this one because vampire books are not for me. However, Debbie actually writes how the power of God works against vampires and that salvation is available even to them. The story was creepy in some parts, but I really enjoyed how Raphael fights for the humans and how they work together. Debbie really brings a unique story to the myths of vampires in this book and even though the story is really intense, it also offers hope. I got my copy from the library and I'm glad I took a chance with it. less
