review 1: Yet another book I would not have read except I won it with Goodreads. It is very thought provoking regarding the actions of the Catholic church in Ireland. Without spoiling the story, its about a Catholic girl and a Jewish man who have a child and the child's put into an orphanage, years later they seek the child out and the harsh reality of the system sinks in. I found the going tough on occasions but it worth sticking with it.
review 2: I won this from Goodreads but I couldn't finish it. I thought the premise was interesting: about the ghastly way pregnant unmarried girls were treated in Ireland 50 years ago, but I found the stream of consciousness style of narrative confusing.
