review 1: I truly enjoyed this book.Mina is looking for answers, yet is a mystery herself. She doesn't trust nobility, and Garett trusts no one.Garett is out for revenge and that is his purpose in life. Mina is a great character in this book. She make Garett think, she also distracts him. He wants to protect her. Her aunt, Tamara is spicy and protective. I loved her, and her character.I do love how the story was played out, with so many secrets and the thirst for revenge. Mina and Garett try to fight their attraction, well Mina tries to fight against him. She wants him but she wants his love not just affection. The ending was great but I think it would've been better if Garett's uncle received a different punishment. I would like to know more about what happens with his aunt ... moreafter as well.
review 2: A re-release and written under her pen-name, "By Love Unveiled" is a historical romance which takes place in Charles II court right after the time of Cromwell and the Roundheads. It's a times of distrust and treachery. Miss Marianne Winchilsea is in disguise because her father was accused of trying to poison the king and was arrested and everyone thinks he died in The Tower. The daughter of a gypsy mother and an English baronet, if she's caught, she could be hanged or imprisoned. However, Mina, as she's called by the locals, is a healer and she vows to find out who framed her father. Unfortunately for her, Garett Lockwood, now Earl of Falkham, claims her as his mistress after she heals his leg and then tries to heal a man who's sent to kill him and recognizes her. Mina is afraid of what Garett will if he ever finds out who she really is but there are evil forces all around! When the worst happens, will the king condemn her or save her? If you like historical novels, you'll like this one. There is enough history to keep it interesting. The budding romance between Garett and Mina isn't an easy one with many obstacles in the way. The characters are well-drawn too. The author talks like she won't go back to writing stories like this one again but I hope she does; she has a knack for it. less
