So this is it, the final day of the 2017 Joyzine Advent Calendar. We are of course going out with a bang, with not one, not two, not even three but four free downloads for you today.
Roadkill and Some Weird Sin have firmly established themselves as two of our favourite London promoters over the past few year, and our quartet of free download all come from bands who have graced their respective stages in the past.
First up The Sly Persuaders released their self-titled debut album through Roadkill Records in February, a stomping slice of rumbling garage rock from which today’s first track, ‘Watch & Learn’, is taken. They’ll be rounding off the year by playing the Roadkill New Year’s Eve Party at Aces & Eights alongside Charlie Sundown & The Enemy of The People and Noise Noir – full details can be found here.

Dirty White Fever‘s debut LP … On The Shores of San Salvador was also released via Roadkill in 2017. We’ve got album opener ‘Shallow Borders’ for you today and if you fancy catching their intense breakbeat blues sound live in the new year, they’ll be at The New Cross Inn on 10th January and The Green Door Store in Brighton on 20th January.

DOLLS made a triumphant, glitter-strewn return to the live scene at The Roadkill all-dayer in the summer following a few months away, and worked with Bad Seeds drummer Jim Sclavunos on latest single ‘Armchair Psychiatrist’, which they’ve provided as a free download for us today. They’re heading north to kick off 2018 with shows at The Cluny in Newcastle (31st January) and The Engine Shed in Lincoln (1st February).

Our final track of 2017 comes from long-term Joyzine favourite Bridport Dagger, who brought their jagged mix of dark-edged rock & roll and gothic country. They’ve become regulars at Some Weird Sin this year and released latest double a-side single ‘Wolves / Trembling Sky’ in October. They’ve sent us ‘Wilderness’ as one last free download treat for the year.
