review 1: I read the book over a short flight between two cities. When a plane landed I couldn't tell if the book was amazing or it was simple a challenge to go through it that kept me reading. And I probably still can't. But one thing is undoubtedly beautiful in it - it's the way this book is written. It felt like the size of the book somehow dictated a style of its narration. If I try to hold on to some artistic metaphor I say it felt like a piece of crumbled paper that unwrapped itself in front of your eyes without anyone's help, reminding of some exotic flower opening up under the rain.
review 2: Suggested grade L-B1Bilodo is a rather strange postman. He regularly steals letters, reads, photocopies, reseals and sends them. Of all the letters he reads, none enchant hi
... morem more than those from Segolene. She regularly corresponds with Grandpre using haiku. Then fate intervenes and, unbeknownst to Segolene, Bilodo takes over writing haiku to her. This is a cleverly crafted book that essentially is a sweet love story. There are fleeting references that are a bit dodgy, but nothing is too graphic. Bilodo and Segolene’s haiku get a bit graphic and passionate but they are easy to skim over. Then Robert, Bilodo’s friend, is a source of a few vulgarities but doesn't overpower the story. less

An unusual love story, as delicately written as the haiku that are at the heart of it.

A beautiful tale about a lonely postman. I enjoyed both the story and the Haiku's.
