I am currently reading Small Great Things by Jodi Picoult and surprisingly I am a quarter of the way through it. I didn’t think I would be able to get through chunks of this as quickly.
I also finished my current audiobook and now I am listening to Brain On Fire: My Month of Madness by Susannah Cahalan. This is another book that is surprisingly funny and really enjoyable.
Last week, I also stopped by my local independent bookstore and picked up two new books! As a bonus, they were donating a portion of their profits to Hurrican Harvey Relief in addition to having their Labor Day Sale.
One is a new release called The Wanderers by Meg Howrey and Mozhan Marno and the other is an older book called Memoirs of an Imaginary Friend by Matthew Dicks.
What Else Have I Been Up ToI finally got around to baking. I made some Lavender White Chocolate Sables from a cookbook I have called Dorie’s Cookies. It’s full of fun flavors and different takes on what makes a cookie. I bought it at my independent bookstore last year and baked the gingersnaps for an author event.
One thing it made me realize though, I need to buy baking rings or circular cookie cutters, because rolling out the dough, freezing it, and shaping it with a glass isn’t cutting it.
I also got inspired by The Great British Baking Show yesterday and decided to make a soda bread with ham, chives, and Harvati cheese and I made a savory loaf to have with pasta.
It came out pretty well, and since it’s a quick bread I don’t have to worry about yeast and letting the dough rise. It wasn’t exactly the epic lion bread sculpture, but it was definitely delicious!
Around the BlogosphereMikaela @ The Well-Thumbed Reader posted a list of 11 Tips to Grow Your Blog. You’ve probably seen posts like this before, but all the advice helps!
Sarah @ Sarah Withers Blog wrote up her thoughts on Dumbledore in the Harry Potter series, and whether he is a saint or a savior. This is something I’ve seen a lot about over the years, and I am inclined to say: Dumbledore is a flawed human being.
Swetlana @ Caffeinated Bookworm Life compiled a list of 14 Unmistakable Signs You’re a Book Blogger. I think I have at least nine of these signs, and the signs I don’t have are probably a good thing.
Lindsey @ Paradis Books put together a list of 6 Young Adult Novels Inspired by Jane Austen. So whether you are a fan of Jane Austen or you just want to read a bunch of different varieties or romance you should check it out. (Although, I do think you should read at least one Jane Austen. That’s just my opinion.)
Sydney @ Fire And Rain Books discussed why series work better in some genres and others. This is a very interesting read and a question that I have constantly pondered myself.
Morgan @ The Bookish Beagle wrote about bookish decor. This is a topic I am always envious of.
Analee @ Book Snacks put together a fun list of fictional schools she would want to attend. Why is this post fun? Because who doesn’t want to go to Hogwarts? I would personally add Brakebills from The Magicians as well.
J.W. Martin at Storeys of Stories wrote a great post about the magic of bookstores. This is a topic near and dear to my heart because I am blessed with a local independent bookseller near me, and as such I am constantly directing my book budget (budget? what, budget?) to their store.

Clara @ The Book Goddess posted a discussion about our reactions to male villains vs. female villains. Won’t lie, this post has stayed with me all week, and I have had some really interesting thoughts on female villains as of late.
Marie @ Drizzle and Hurricane Books wrote about belong to the blogging community and fear of missing out. Marie’s post is very relatable and I highly encourage anyone who has anxiety over maintaining their blog to give it a read.
