review 1: I have read several of this author's books and this one was well done with romance, cruelty and uspense. Phillipa is married to a terrible husband who allows his mother to treat her as a slave and use her thusly. Temric has been send along with the Bishops representative to take her to see the Bishop. He has to stand up to the mother -in-law but manages to free Phillipa from her abusive home. Very good read.
review 2: 5***** Another fun historical from Denise Domning. I'm in love with the family in this series. This story is the second book but you don't have to read them in order. Phillipa is in an abusive marriage. If her husband fails to get what he sees as her inheritance her life could be in real danger. Temric is the bastard brother of a lord with a bi... moreg chip on his shoulder. He acts the part of his brother's servant until something or someone gets in his way. Then his noble blood boils and he is his true self. The way this author makes us involved in the complex laws of the era is incredible. This is a problem that still happens in today's world and it would be just as difficult to solve. I'm now off to read the third book now. less
