review 1: Hmmmm... I think the best description of my response to this book is "ambivalent"On the one hand, it's a nice reminder that:1/ It's OK to want what I want2/ I could be paying more attention to money in my life right now3/ There are tools I already have (both woo-type tools, and other) that I could be using more often4/ It was kind of neat seeing Leonie referenced so often in a trufaxactuallive printed book5/ I need to do any money work I do on both a physical and psychological levelOn the other, despite the occasional reminder that if I'm earning more, I can be doing more good in the world, the vibe I got was very much a "More of everything is ALWAYS better" one that created a stark contrast to the previous book I read - The Soul of Money. It wasn't so much that I felt like... more Ms Duffield-Thomas was telling me "Greed is Good" with her recommendations, but... nearly all of the examples she chose gave me that unstated vibe. From the woman who "desperately needed to forgive her husband for buying her a cheap engagement ring" to people who "block money because they're worried they'll always have to pay for meals out" or people who want to be able to "dress to look like a million dollars every day"... the examples provided just feel like people a world away from me that I can't seem to resonate with.I'm trying to let go of judginess and just accept that, yes, these situations are big deals for people going through them. But that doesn't mean those examples feel relevant to me. And because the examples don't work for me, it's much harder to connect with the value of the techniques she recommends.Overall, I think this is a valuable book for woo-friendly business owners to read. But I don't get nearly the same "Wow" vibe from it that many of the reviewers below do.
review 2: I absolutely loved this book! I know I have issues with money, and I've done work on it in the past., including workshops that didn't seem to help much. What I love about Denise's book is that it provides a practical step by step list of concrete actions you can take to clear your issues with money. I love her writing style: she's funny and it sounds like she's sitting down with her readers to have a chat about money. It's a very easy read, and it's absolutely imperative that you sit down to read it with a notebook so you can write down all the steps you have to take. I actually went out and bought a new notebook so I could get all of the exercises written down. The only improvement I can imagine would be a simple list at the end that sums up all of the steps to take, as I found myself constantly flipping back and forth through the Kindle book to review the steps. It would be great to have one big to-do list at the end, just so I don't forget any of the steps. This book is totally inspiring and motivating and it's an absolute must-read for every woman. Yes, you have to take action in order to get results, but Denise makes that easy with this book. After reading, you know exactly what you need to do. Don't think twice...get this book now! less
