review 1: Just ok. Fairly predictable, very steriotypical, and nothing new or special. I liked the idea of the main character's mother being a modern midwife and how that conflicts with her daugheters' lives though. Other than that, it was a waste of my time. But if you like teenage realistic fictions then I totally recommend this book for you. Unfortunatly, I am more of a fantasy, adventure, and mystery type. Kat Flynn has a messed up life. The guy she has had a crush on since the 7th grade doesn't even know she exists, she has to train like crazy for the women's triatholon, and her mother, who works as a midwife and has Kat work for her also, seems to be focusing on being so motherly to her patients that she isn't being motherly enough to her own daugheters. Watch how Kat'... mores life changes throughout the year and how what happens her junior year of high school teaches her more than her mother ever taught her in her life. Once again, very ordinary. I liked Vega's other book, click here to find out how I survived 7th grade, much better.
review 2: Kat is in high school, works at her mom's midwife business, and has had a huge crush on Manny Cruz since middle school. As the year goes on, she starts writing in a journal, recording her "Facts of Life". Her mom tries to control her life more than Kat would like and Manny actually seems interested, but everything turns out to be more complicated than Kat thought it would. It was a fine read from an interesting perspective, but not particularly memorable. less
