review 1: I didn't think that I would ever really be able to get through this book. Not because it was badly written. But because it was so well written that I felt as if I were being transported back into this time period where more than just homophobia ran rampant, but where racism was not only normal but encouraged.I'm glad that I finished it though because after I got over my initial cringing over certain words and aspects I was able to actually enjoy this book. Not to mention the fact that I love history, as well as cowboys, so this book satisfied both my need for educational stimulation and...*clears throat*....my need for salacious stimulation as well.I can see myself reading this book again, but that is more because of the fact that I took such a LONG break in between sta... morerting it and when I finally finished it.This is a really good book, just be forewarned, if you're angered easily, this book should not be read by you.However, if you love cowboys, ranches, horses, and sexy men and hot sex, then this book is definitely for you.
review 2: 3.5 Stars This book kinda stalled for me at he beginning, but I ended up liking it a lot more than I thought I would...The thing was, I was not really sure what time it was supposed to be set in so the language threw me off a bit...there are some expressions that bother...regardless if they are supposed to be historically accurate they we're fucked up then...they're still fucked up now.That being said I liked the characters and the story itself was good I thought. A little unrealistic, but hey it's fiction so I can go with it :O) and they WERE cowboys! less
