review 1: The problem that I had with this book is it's unbelievable plot line, dialogue, and everything else! I mean really? Really? I made it to like chapter 15 and I just couldn't finish it. It was so exhausting and I could feel myself dozing off or losing focus because it was so unrealistic and dull! These adults who are investigating/victimized/involved in this huge crime are just openly telling this 16 year old girl they barely know about every single detail... Umm... Then Julian and her dad are suddenly fighting like they're high school chicks fighting for a guy. Like they're supposed to be adults. And his child was right there! Then suddenly Julian was attacked in the mere 5 minutes from when he left violets dad's house. What?? Ugh! Then these special agent detectives sudden... morely take an interest in this young girl who has nothing to do with the freaking crime except for the fact that she wants to figure out the crime for absolutely no reason! Like what is going on?! Then they state that they're a part of the FBI art crime team, like is that even a real thing??? If it is then it's totally unbelievable (like I mentioned before) that these big shot detectives would even give a passing glance at violet let alone tell her everything that's going on with the investigation, listen to get theories, or swoon over her! Like that just doesn't happen in real life!! It was annoying to read! It just felt completely and utterly ridiculous. I could not finish this book and it's definitely going in the DNF pile!
review 2: solid 3.5 stars... I really enjoyed the 2nd half of the book better than the first half. Maybe it was because of more action-ish scene or storyline... I feel like Violet's friendship/romance with Edge never really made sense (atleast to me). We met him.. then re-met him at the end of the book. Poof.. love. She should have feel for some kawaii Japanese guy instead while solving the mystery. Reika should get her own spin-off... that would cool to read. less

Really didn't care for it. Seemed appropriate for maybe an elementary school read. Very predictable.

I COULDN'T FINISH! This book was so boring and predictable that I got halfway through and stopped.

A fun art thief mystery set in Japan. Not exactly an edge of your seat mystery but cute.

A really good book. One of the best mysteries I've read in a long time.

A fun little book, but not that great.
