Devon Book Club’s Birthday Celebrations

It was wonderful to be a part of Devon Book Group‘s third birthday celebrations in Dartmouth.

Book lovers came out in force in the mizzle and drizzle to hear from six writers (myself included) to visit and browse the local bookshops (Dartmouth Community Bookshop and Dartmouth Bookseller) It was also National Book Shop Day #bookshopday so an extra reason to get together to chat and eat cake.

Ian Hobbs, the founder of Devon Book Group organised a great morning promoting Devon’s writing talents and honouring the hard work libraries and indie bookshops do to promote reading and a love of books.  The was a treasure hunt and raffle too!

LE Willetts shares her writing journey Rowena talks about the work of Dartmouth Library Jill tells us what inspired her to start writing Finding out how Damien Boyd became an international best selling author… So we forgave him for actually being from Somerset Exciting things in the pipeline for Steve! Me in my element talking biscuits and books Ian tells us that Devon Book Club was formed three years ago when he broke his arm Hearing how the Community Bookshop in Dartmouth began and about the work of its many volunteers A gorgeous shop with hand painted window displays!

If you’re ever visiting Devon I’d definitely recommend finding out if there’s a Devon Book Group gathering near you and if you’re based in the South West and haven’t yet joined the buzz, why not?!
