review 1: Enjoyed it, I think this series has taken the top spot for me when it comes to Vamps. It's not all rinse and repeat. But I will say book two you do need to suspend reality. It pushes the envelop, still good but it does push things almost to far, only book I doubt I'll relisten to. The rest of the series reads like Darkness Dawn - Book 1 which was excellent. In this story "In Still Darkness" Richart meets Jenna, more of a novella but an excellent update. Only disappointment is that it was a novella. Almost feel like a character was wasted and I loved Richart in Bastien's story. The three sibs are great, so funny at times.
review 2: I have read all the full length novels in this series and enjoyed them, but have gotten tired of the same basic set up over ... moreand over again.Our hero, Richert, rescues Jenna from some vampires, he's smitten and courts her, she finds out he's an immortal, there's some angst about whether Jenna can become immortal too, then she becomes an ass kicking immortal too.All the characters are likable, the story with the courting is sweeter than in the full length books. There's also a twist with Jenna being 37 and having a full grown son.Poisoned darts used by the vampires and a sudden increase in the quantity of vampires are introduced with no further details given and Ami is captured and her status is left in the air. Presumably there issues will be covered in the next full length book.So, I liked the novella, but don't feel it added much except maybe as a means to set up a new direction for the rest of the series.I received a copy from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review. less
