review 1: As the "theories of how vampires are made" in the books, this one is one of the best-the most realistic. Although the caryotype of 2n=7000 is a little bit too far away from the reality (7000 is impossible genetically I believe because the evolution isn't happening that fast), so the other one extraterrestrial which explains the 7000 one makes it more possible even though we are talking about the impossible, fiction made creatures, vampires..Other than that this book made me think of my biology and math class, we are studying evolution (so genes) and in math exponents, the use of the word exponentially made me remember it and the fact that I probably should work and stop reading.. (I didn't :D ) The book: too short, but I believe the principal character and I are from the sa... moreme frame of mind.. ecological foods.. the reactions, etc.. so I liked it. Great but easily guessed and banal story. Although in this times it's hard to find different plots..Characters are great, a good end. Overally I believe I can recommend it for a fast read.Note to the autor: A suggestion, for a greater story augment the passion and don't pass it that fast..
review 2: This really could have been an amazing read but it suffered from two thing: info dump and the author's incessant need to tell instead of show. I realize there is going to be some heavy background in a first book of a series, but not to this extent. For example: if there are 6 people in a scene, the author described them ALL in detail. There was also quite a bit of the authors (I'm assuming) views that organic is best. If I read the word organic once, I read it 450 times, and that is not an exaggeration. I didn't really like Roland or Sarah to be honest. I did however find myself intrigued by Marcus, Seth and the mystery woman and for that alone I will read the next book. For me this was a borderline DNF. D+ less
