review 1: The year is 1867 when Verity moves back to her hometown in Pennsylvania. She is 17 and engaged to Nathaniel whom, up to this point, she has met only through letters. While settling in to her new/old town, Verity discovers that there are two graves with cages over them and one of them is her mother's. Creepy and mysterious! Verity, with the help and hindrance of family and friends, uncovers the mystery of the caged graves. This is a good witchcrafty/mysterious/spooky/romantic story! Best for grades 6+.
review 2: Actually, I give this 10 ********** stars! So damn intriguing! If you want to know what the book is about, read the jacket. I want to talk about how it is written. There are so many mysteries & sub plots going on. Dianne K Salerni writes as well as... more Jane Austin. They both mask their characters so you don't get the full jest of their true character until later in the story. This is a true page turner! Can't wait til May when her next book comes out. less
